Because of the pandemic, I currently don’t see much of them, so at the moment video calls do the job. To keep my work-life balance, I live alone and I care for my parents, helping them whenever I can. I have enjoyed my time with the University and the people working here, where I’ve made new friends. I hope to be successful in what I do and want to carry on working for the University. I bought a property and moved in just before the lockdown, decorated it and made it a home. Outside of work I normally see my friends and family, but because of the pandemic that is all on hold. It has been a great honour working with my colleagues and I am passionate about completing the apprenticeship. They have helped me, supported me, and taught me so much and I still have so much to learn. The support from all the Facilities teams has been so inspirational. Since I started the Apprenticeship every day has been different and offered something new. ![]() I have learnt so much about the role from Dan he’s doing an awesome job teaching me everything and I know his standards are high, so I feel I’m learning from the best. I hope to become an electrician and aim to be the best electrician I can be. From the start of my apprenticeship, I had so much support from the University, Dan and my colleagues. I spend a mix of my time doing Portable Appliance Testing (PAT), helping and working with Dan towards my apprenticeship. My current role is Building Electrical Technician. I eventually met Dan Rosic, a Departmental Electrician, who has been a massive help to push me to keep aiming high over the last year. I knew I wanted to learn a trade and have a new start, and so I thought about doing an apprenticeship. When I decided to leave my previous role, my parents gave me all the support I could ever want. I learnt skills like organising my work and planning, which I continue to use to organise processes to this day. I worked myself up the grades until I was managing 30 members of staff. I started as a young 16 year old part-timer and then, after I finished my education, I didn’t really know what to do, so I moved into working full time. However, I was tenacious and the one thing I did want at that age was some form of qualifications, which unfortunately my school wasn’t able to provide me with, so I carried on studying at college doing different First Diplomas and, in the end, I managed to leave education with a National Diploma.īefore I started working for the Department of Chemistry I worked in retail. ![]() ![]() I left school with terrible GCSEs and was heavily bullied, so in the end school was just about surviving the next day. 4/27/2023 0 Comments Coords fashion![]() This boldly modern edit is enriched with ethereal touches that are bound to captivate the crowd with new-found majesty. As long as you pay close attention to the style of each piece and make sure that any print motifs appear a few times throughout the coord, it should yield some nice results.Appearing with a flourishing vision for modern femininity, create a cacophony of gracefully cohesive ensembles with our co ord sets. This is my go-to method when I need to get ready in a hurry or when I’m just feeling uninspired. So there you have it! It may not be the most innovative coord in the world, but it’s totally acceptable to wear to a meet. ![]() I start looking for red strawberry accessories for the arms and torso. Echoing motifs from a printed piece (stars for a sky print, for example) is generally a good idea. Step four: In this case, there’s no red on the torso yet and the arms are completely bare, so we’ll have to correct that! I do notice that the socks have strawberries on them and I don’t want them to be the only strawberries in the whole coordinate as that might look a little strange. ![]() The idea is just to ensure that the accent color is represented in all five sections. In order to ensure that a coord is balanced, think of it as being divided into five sections: head, torso, arms (including hands), skirt, and legs (including feet). This is where the concept of color balance comes into play, so I’ll explain that briefly before I continue. I definitely get a Summery vibe from what I have so far, so I try to echo that in my choices.Īt this point we’re nearly done. Once you’ve decided on your accent color, choose shoes, a bag, and headwear that use that color, again being sure to consider the overall style. Choose whichever you’d like, but stick with just one for this method. Sometimes, especially with prints, there will be a few colors to choose from. Now, in this case it’s pretty simple because the only color in the main piece is red, so my accent color is naturally going to be red. Step 3: At this point, I decide on an accent color. I choose a white blouse and printed white OTKs that match the color scheme of the skirt, making sure that both suit the Sweet style. Remember, matching both style and color is extremely important to the overall finished look! Plain white tights would be perfectly acceptable here, but I think that having patterned tights or OTKs make the completed coord look a little more polished. The blouse and legwear don’t necessarily need to match each other in every coordinate of course, but for this method I match both to the color of the lace on the main piece, in this case white. Step 2: Next, I use my main piece to determine what color my base layer should be. For my example, I’ll be starting out with a skirt that is firmly planted in Sweet territory. ![]() Once you have your main piece, you can determine whether you’ll be creating a Classic, Gothic, or Sweet coord. Whether it’s a solid color, an all-over pattern, or a print, this will probably be the focal point. Step 1: Normally, when I’m planning a coordinate, the first thing I choose is my main piece. For true beginners, these pieces are covered in way more detail at the Lolita Guidebook. The fourth (and totally optional) layer is outerwear, usually a coat, cardigan, bolero, or cape. Third, I have my main piece a skirt, JSK, or OP. Next is my base layer, which usually consists of just a blouse and legwear. The bottom layer is foundation garments, which for me includes bloomers, petticoats, a bra, a camisole, and sometimes a corset. Think of a coord as having three to four layers. I’m planning on covering methods for creating more complicated coords as well as including contributions from friends in various styles, but I thought it would be best to have some basic information here too so it can be referenced later. It can be done in just four steps, and typically takes me about 5 to 15 minutes to throw together a passable outfit. I have a few methods for building coords, but this one is easiest and fastest. I think at the very least it’s a great way for beginners to get the hang of Lolita fashion. A major advantage is that my thinking is fairly simple to explain and does result in some nice outfits. It seems to me that I should begin with the most basic and fundamental aspect of being a Lolita: coording! I’m generally mechanically-minded and the way that I coordinate outfits is decidedly formulaic, which has advantages and disadvantages. One of my goals in creating this blog is to provide detailed information on how to get started in Lolita. Hello, all! So I want to apologize in advance for what will definitely be a pretty long post. From En Saga to the magnificently austere Tapiola of 1926, his approach was much more suggestive than narratively literal and naively descriptive, and the musical organisation always highly disciplined. He married in 1892, and he and his wife Aino spent their honeymoon in Karelia, the region of eastern Finland that is the source of many of the Kalevala stories, and which inspired several of Sibelius’s works that followed – the Karelia Suite, the set of four Lemminkäinen Legends (the second of which, The Swan of Tuonela, has acquired an independent life as an orchestral favourite) and the first of the tone poems, En Saga.Ī symphonic or tone poem is, usually, a single-movement orchestral piece shaped by a literary or visual text, but Sibelius’s concept of the form (he wrote 16 of them altogether) was radically different from that of his contemporary Richard Strauss. It was a resounding success at its first performance, but Sibelius refused to allow the score to be published until after his death. He also started work on a much more ambitious project, the choral symphony Kullervo, based on episodes from the Kalevala. Photograph: Chronicle/Alamy Stock Photoįurther composition studies in Berlin and Vienna between 18 included an encounter with the symphonies of Anton Bruckner, perhaps as a result of which he began writing orchestral music that he conducted on his return to Helsinki. In his student years, he concentrated on chamber music, though he wrote only one mature string quartet, the five-movement Voces Intimae of 1909. By then Sibelius was starting to realise that he would never become the violin virtuoso he aspired to be, and Busoni encouraged his composition. (It was while he was a student, too, that he changed his first name from Johan to its French equivalent, Jean.) When the composer Ferruccio Busoni joined the institute as a piano teacher the two became friends. ![]() Very soon he abandoned law to study music full-time, and received his first formal composition lessons. ![]() He composed copiously through his teens, yet despite his obvious musical talent he began studying law, though at the same time he enrolled at the Helsinki Music Institute (now the Sibelius Academy). The family’s first language was Swedish, but from the age of nine he attended Finnish-speaking schools and was soon fascinated by Finnish mythology, particularly the folk stories collected in the Kalevala, first published in 1835.īy then he was having piano and violin lessons. His father died when he was three, and he was brought up by his mother and grandmother. Sibelius was born in Hämeenlinna, in the south of what was then the Grand Duchy of Finland, an autonomous part of the Russian empire. 4/26/2023 0 Comments Numpy vstack names array columns![]() The array formed by stacking the given arrays.Įxample: Horizontal stacking of numpy arrays > import numpy as np ![]() Save_image( image_array = an_image, path_without_file_name = "./output/" + manifold_learning_method + "/directions/", file_name = str( projection_direction_index) + ".The arrays must have the same shape along all but the first axis. imresize( arr = an_image, size = 500) # -> 5 times bigger reshape(( image_height, image_width))Īn_image = scipy. ![]() shapeįor projection_direction_index in range( n_projection_directions_to_save):Īn_image = projection_directions. They are darn close but off just enough that you end up with some gaps and a 12 degree angle you need may be 10 or 15 depending on which way the wire moved. The wire heats up and sags which causes it to wave a bit as it pulls through the foam creating a not so flat edge. The problem though is that even with the math, cutting foam with a homemade hot wire cutter works well but doesn't give you a true flat cut. I could then calculate how many blocks I needed to make an 8 foot circle, what angle each side needed cut to, and how much that meant I needed to cut off the ends. So an 18 inch block which is 1.5 feet became 1.5 inches. I scaled down my dimensions to fit from feet to inches in their calculator. I used a Segmented Bowl Calculator for turning wooden bowls I found online. You have to plan out how to get the most out of your foam blocks, with minimal waste, and good solid surfaces to adhere the foam to. Many are not as most of the foam is damaged due to the weight on the trailers being stacked on them and the tie straps used to secure everything. Most stores stack them up on pallets and whoever wants them can have them. They have to throw them away when they are done shipping them to the stores. The blocks are 12x12x18 or 19 inches long.
